The official launch is on June 30.

They are also holding a children’s book day on Saturday July 2 in association with the publisher Usborne.

Terry Adams has published a new book ‘Paddy Alone’, that forms part of a trilogy about three generations of an Irish family from the early part of the twentieth century through the current era.

The book is available directly from him or may be picked up in Chapter One or the Book Loft.

Compánach is a music, song & dance show combining a live performance with a slide show that takes you on a traditional music tour of Ireland.

It’s a fast-moving, cross-media concert of traditional Irish music, song and dance.

Following a theme of music and localities, it uses photography and historic imagery to tell the music’s story and indicate its roots, regions, topography and topicality.

The show is a “live documentary”, it has solo, duet and group music representing all Irish counties and Diaspora regions and both early and modern tunesmiths. This soundscape is warmed by song in Irish and English and accented by sean-nós, percussive step-dance.

Compánach is performed by leading musicians. The line-up includes Gerry O’Connor (fiddle), Fintan Vallely (flute), Tiarnán Ó Duinnchin (uilleann pipes), Sibéal Davitt (dance) and singer Karan Casey.

The course of the performance is directed by Fintan Vallely, editor of the encyclopedia ‘Companion to Irish Traditional Music’, the text of which is turned into music.  The narrative is expanded subtly by a slide projection on a large screen so the music is presented with associated images  by the award-winning photographer Jacques Nutan.

The show creates an interplay of sound, sight and imagination which effortlessly conveys contextual and stylistic information on Irish-Traditional music from the 1700s up to the present day.   The narrative is accompanied by photos and historical images supported by indicative sub-titles while Nutan’s images of landscapes and personalities have dramatic power.

GAA tournament in Hostert featuring 12 teams, the tournament is the first round of the European Hurling and Camogie championships.   This is an all day event and a great opportunity to see an ancient sport. See flier below, more information on www.Luxgaa.lu

Lecture by Dr Fearghal McGarry in the Salle de Fêtes of the European School, Kirchberg.   Dr McGarry is a lecturer in Queens University Belfast and the author of “The Rising, Easter 1916”.

Doors open 19:00, the lecture will be preceded by an exhibition of Irish music and dance and followed by a reception hosted by the Irish Ambassador.
